Last weekend the rentals and I took a roadtrip to Phoenix for some good ol' Mariners spring training. It ended up being a fantastic weekend and a great chance for me to try out this whole blog thing. Friday was spent driving through the desert and stopping off at the border of California and Arizona to visit with my mom's family. My first concern with being stuck in a car for six hours was naturally comfort. I started with my ripped black skinnies because they're my absolute favorite pair of pants and are great for someone who is only comfortable sitting cross legged. I paired it with a black tank from H&M because its comfy, would be practical for when we were in the middle of the desert, and I love the way it looks. This pairing always makes me feel confident, something you really need when you're trying out self portraits for the first time. The cardigan was for my necessary pop of color, because I can't really ever go without it and because 7am is still chilly in Corona. I also love the way the neon green makes the red in my hair pop. Finally, I threw on my Billabong flip-flops mostly because.. who wears real shoes on a roadtrip? I had seen the whole flip-flops with black skinny jeans done before and never really understood it, all I have to say is don't knock it till you try it.

The head scarf was a last minute decision inspired by a really awful photo of my seventeen year old self my best friend had sent me that morning. I looked ridiculous in the photo, but I also really liked the person I was that day. That girl wasn't afraid of what other people thought and she loved who she was. I decided that was a pretty good reason to give the scarf another chance, and I ended up really loving it, but unfortunately head scarfs and rolled down windows as you're traveling down the freeway at 70mph don't actually go well together.
Seriously, don't knock it till you try it. It's nothing but good vibes.
The layers were super handy once it was later afternoon in the middle of the Arizona desert or in other words, hot. Also, me and my ma are cute.
